Reference Desk
The Reference Desk is located on the main floor of the Library in front of the clock on the east wall. Reference librarians help answer questions, select books and articles, and assist in research projects.

The Ready Reference Collection, located behind the Reference Desk, contains books designed for immediate reference and other heavily used materials. A current validated Lehman ID must be presented to the librarian at the Reference Desk to receive this material. This material must be used in the Library and can be accessed until the Library closes.

Reference Books
Reference books provide concise information, such as biographies, literary criticism, definitions, statistics, maps, or a description of important facts and events. This kind of information is typically found in books such as encyclopedias, almanacs, dictionaries, yearbooks, handbooks, directories, maps, atlases and gazetteers.

The general Reference collection is located in the stacks on the main floor, south of the Reference Desk. This material must be used onsite only. Another area containing reference material is the Education department on the third floor.

Quick Reference section
A Quick Reference section containing dictionaries, career materials, Hot Topics books, and heavily used reference books is located in the first section of the Reference stacks. Some of these resources are available for seven-day loan.

The Reference area has 33 computers: 25 PCs and 8 Macs. They are all connected to the Internet and most are equipped with Microsoft Office. (One PC is limited to searching only the CUNY+ catalog.) All computers permit printing and downloading to USB drives. Headphones are available at the Reference Desk for listening to audio files. Printers connect to all Reference area computers. A print management account must be used for printing.

Print Help Desk
Help with the print management system and computers in the Reference area is available at the Print Help Desk, located in front of the Quick Reference shelves at the south end of the Reference area.
