Interested in going to Cuba this Spring Break? We are thrilled to announce that the Lehman in The Provinces program is back and better than ever! Join a team of Lehman faculty and students and explore Havana, Sancti Spíritus, Santa Clara and Cienfuegos. Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Heath
The CUNY Institute for Health Equity (CIHE), with support from Humanities NY, will be holding its second reading discussion group this fall on Wednesday, December 4th. Prof. Alyshia Gálvez, a professor of food studies and anthropology at The New School, will be discussing Food Politics by Marion Nestle. Faculty, students and staff can borrow a copy of the book from the HS2N Dean’s Office in Davis 125 (there are limited supplies). The discussion will take place from 12:00pm – 1:30pm in the Library Treehouse - 317. Throughout this academic year, the CIHE will be exploring books in Humanities NY’s The Serious Side of Food series - which unpacks nutrition, health practices and the food industry. |

The 18th annual CUNY IT Conference on “Bridging Gaps” will explore the disparities that technologies mitigate and how technology can help us overcome barriers to connection and learning. CUNY Arts Fellowships
Starting Spring 2020, CUNY Arts will sponsor several Fellowships to support the development and dissemination of courses and innovative course projects that engage with a cultural institution in New York City. Those selected for the CUNY Arts OER Fellowship Program will be asked to share their work with CUNY colleagues, exchange ideas and approaches, and get and give feedback through a designated CUNY Arts OER website that will be housed on Academic Works and accessed through OpenEd@CUNY. Say Hello to Writing Tuesday's
Finding it difficult to write during the semester? If so join the NCFDD writing movement. Write alongside colleagues in a quiet and comfortable space on Tuesdays. Carve out a weekly block of time for projects that would otherwise have been sidelined by other commitments. Set aside as little as 30 minutes or as long as two hours on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. or 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Library Treehouse Conference Room 317. Participants report that dedicated writing time enhanced their scholarly productivity. |

A variety of resources for identifying funding for research, education, and training are available to CUNY faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and staff. Investigators are encouraged to be familiarized with the electronic grant funding tools available to receive funding opportunity alerts and/or alerts related to changes in federal, state, and private foundation funding requirements.

2020 CUNY Office of Research Book Completion Award Promotion
The CUNY Office of Research Book Completion Award (BCA) grant program is accepting proposals from faculty for book projects that are in the development and prospectus stage, as well as for manuscripts that have been accepted for publication and are nearing the completion and submission stage. Funds will be awarded on a competitive basis to faculty in the arts, humanities, social sciences and Professional school disciplines.

The Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund
The Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund was established in 1979 by the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY, the instructional staff union of the City University of New York. The Scholarship honors the founding president of the PSC, Belle Zeller, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Brooklyn College, where she taught for over 40 years. Many of our legislators today were her students during her long tenure at Brooklyn College. This program honors her memory by providing scholarships to allow the most distinguished students to continue in CUNY undergraduate, graduate and professional school programs. Belle Zeller Scholars receive a scholarship in the amount of $5,000. It is a highly selective award to which approximately 5 scholars are awarded.
- Applicants must be registered full-time for the Fall 2020 semester (students who are scheduled to graduate at the end of this term are not eligible to apply).
- Applicants must register for at least twelve (12) credits in the Spring 2020 semester.
- Applicants should have completed at least sixteen (16) credits within the City University of New York (CUNY) and have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher.
- Applicants should show evidence of good character and significant service to CUNY, the community and/or their respective colleges by letter and/or other documents.

Public Service Scholarship
The public sector is the part of the economy that encompasses public services and enterprises. Generally speaking, these services are provided by the government and are publicly funded. Such services include telecommunications, electrical grids, police, military, public education, some aspects of healthcare, and infrastructure such as bridges, roads, water supply, tunnels, sewers, and public transit. These services are usually provided to payers and non-payers alike, and stand to benefit society as a whole, and are typically self-financed or non-profits.
