Public Interest Technology (PIT) has been generally defined as technology for the public good. Since PIT is broadly defined, and an emerging discipline, there is a lack of available curricula that can be shared with the academic community in this area. Because of this, there is a need for shared curricula materials that can be adopted into university majors, general education offerings, tracks within a major, interdisciplinary minors, etc. This RFP calls for the creation of Open Educational Resources (OER) to create a body of curricula in PIT. We seek proposals from faculty in the humanities, public policy, law, and technology related areas, to create modules, courses, tracks within a major, minors, or majors in Public Interest Technology. Catherine Alicia Georges Nursing Research Conference Join the Department of Nursing at Lehman College for its first annual Catherine Alicia Georges Nursing Research Conference to take place at Lehman College in the East Dining Room, on Friday, November 22, 2019. This research conference will provide the opportunity for both local and international nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives, clinical research nurses, nursing researchers, nursing professors and faculty, other Lehman faculty, nursing associations, societies and many more to showcase their work in global health issues. CUNY Arts Fellowships Starting Spring 2020, CUNY Arts will sponsor several Fellowships to support the development and dissemination of courses and innovative course projects that engage with a cultural institution in New York City. Those selected for the CUNY Arts OER Fellowship Program will be asked to share their work with CUNY colleagues, exchange ideas and approaches, and get and give feedback through a designated CUNY Arts OER website that will be housed on Academic Works and accessed through OpenEd@CUNY. The book interrogates the validity of longstanding claims that Gambians and Senegalese are "one" people in two countries and explores how that claim intersects with the politics and development needs of the two countries. Associate Professor Sharon Jordan has contributed the essay "He is a Bridge: The Importance of Friedrich Nietzsche for Ernst Ludwig Kirchner" to the exhibition catalogue Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, published in conjunction with the first US retrospective of the artist currently at the Neue Galerie, a museum for German and Austrian art, in New York until mid-January. Users may access information from anywhere when logged in to their accounts. 2020 CUNY Office of Research Book Completion Award Promotion The CUNY Office of Research Book Completion Award (BCA) grant program is accepting proposals from faculty for book projects that are in the development and prospectus stage, as well as for manuscripts that have been accepted for publication and are nearing the completion and submission stage. Funds will be awarded on a competitive basis to faculty in the arts, humanities, social sciences and Professional school disciplines. Student Opportunities The Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund The Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund was established in 1979 by the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY, the instructional staff union of the City University of New York. The Scholarship honors the founding president of the PSC, Belle Zeller, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Brooklyn College, where she taught for over 40 years. Many of our legislators today were her students during her long tenure at Brooklyn College. This program honors her memory by providing scholarships to allow the most distinguished students to continue in CUNY undergraduate, graduate and professional school programs. Belle Zeller Scholars receive a scholarship in the amount of $5,000. It is a highly selective award to which approximately 5 scholars are awarded. Applicants must be registered full-time for the Fall 2020 semester (students who are scheduled to graduate at the end of this term are not eligible to apply). Applicants must register for at least twelve (12) credits in the Spring 2020 semester. Applicants should have completed at least sixteen (16) credits within the City University of New York (CUNY) and have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher. Applicants should show evidence of good character and significant service to CUNY, the community and/or their respective colleges by letter and/or other documents. Public Service Scholarship The public sector is the part of the economy that encompasses public services and enterprises. Generally speaking, these services are provided by the government and are publicly funded. Such services include telecommunications, electrical grids, police, military, public education, some aspects of healthcare, and infrastructure such as bridges, roads, water supply, tunnels, sewers, and public transit. These services are usually provided to payers and non-payers alike, and stand to benefit society as a whole, and are typically self-financed or non-profits. State Records is honored to present this $1000.00 college scholarship for the 2020 school year.
