This Week At Lehman Graphic

Dear Colleagues:

The fortune cookie says: “May you live in interesting times.” Greeting a new academic year is always an exciting and interesting experience, with the challenges and potentials of new students, the welcoming of new colleagues, and the celebrations of newly tenured and/or promoted faculty. But this year, WOW! Lehman College turns 50; we will complete our academic re-accreditation process with a site visit in the spring; and we start the year with new developments in our administration—although many new administrators are not new to the College.

As we all know, Lehman is an increasingly dynamic institution—every year brings change and growth. This coming year will be no different, sure to include institutional transitions, advancements, and festivities. Throughout it all, our core objectives: to ensure that our students become educated, empowered and engaged graduates, to ensure that our faculty remain productive in scholarship, teaching and service, and to ensure that Lehman continues to be the intellectual, economic and cultural center of the Bronx, will not change. With this in mind, what could be more interesting and engaging than the challenges and opportunities we’ll encounter in 2018-2019? And there is no place I’d rather live and work in this “interesting time” then right here with all of you. May this be a year of successes for all of us!

PS: The faculty ranks are swelling! Please take a moment to read about our newest faculty members, and join us in welcoming them to Lehman College.
