A Conversation with Emma Otheguy Otheguy is author of the children's book, Martí’s Song for Freedom/Martí y Sus Versos por la Libertad (Lee & Low, 2017) about Cuban poet and national hero José Martí. Her forthcoming novel is Silver Meadows Summer (Knopf, 2019). Martí’s Song for Freedom was named a Best Book of the Year by Kirkus Reviews, School Library Journal, New York Public Library, and Bank Street College of Education. It measures levels of academic challenge, active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, educational experiences and campus climate.
