This week, we officially kick off Lehman College’s 50th anniversary with our gala celebration on Wednesday. I am so proud to be part of this milestone, to pay tribute to the work of an exceptional faculty and remarkable students over a half-century.
Our College was born at a time of political upheaval and social unrest but, despite the uncertain climate, set down deep roots in the Bronx and became one of the borough’s most enduring anchors. The story of Lehman College is fascinating. I invite you all to take a look at our special commemorative website to learn more about the people and events that helped shape this most noble institution.
We also are planning many events to celebrate our anniversary; you can find the calendar here. Please check back as we are updating this information. We’ve also established an Instagram page, LehmanAt50, where we’re posting archival and current photos every day.
Our anniversary gives us an opportunity to reflect on our history of service and achievement and celebrate a very promising future. I consider myself extremely fortunate to lead this institution, which, in just 50 years, has transformed so many lives in the Bronx and beyond.
