A Message from Lehman College President José Luis Cruz
Lehman Policies and Procedures Promoting Diversity and Inclusion

Dear Campus Community,

With the 2018-2019 academic year underway, I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm Lehman College’s commitment to the policies and practices that promote affirmative action, a discrimination-free environment, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy describes The City University of New York’s commitment to recruit, employ, retain, promote, and provide benefits to employees regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, partnership status, disability, genetic information, alienage, citizenship, military or veteran status, unemployment status, pregnancy, or status as a victim of domestic violence/stalking/sex offenses, or any other legally prohibited basis in accordance with federal, state and city laws. I remind you that Italian-Americans are included among CUNY’s protected groups. Additionally, as a federal contractor, CUNY engages in affirmative action consistent with federal requirements.

You can learn more about the CUNY Policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination and the CUNY Policy on Sexual Misconduct by visiting the College Policies website.

In addition, you may want to visit Lehman’s Title IX website, to learn about ways to combat sexual assault and other unwelcome sexual behavior. You will also find the contact information for the campus personnel trained to address sexual harassment and sexual violence.

The booklet, "CUNY/Lehman Policies and Procedures, What You Must Know," which contains general information about the policies. I fully support these policies and the affirmative action program; however; it is only with the support of every member of the Lehman College community that we can maintain an environment where faculty, staff, students and visitors experience the spirit of community in a safe and supportive environment.

Please consult the following individuals for additional information related to each policy:
