GEP 635: Natural Hazards and Risk Analysis with GIS.
5 hours (3, lecture; 2 hours lab), 4 credits. Fundamentals of the natural hazards and disasters origin; physical and social implications; methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis; elements of geographic, geological, social and political analysis applied to risk estimation and mitigation and management measures. Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)tools and analytical techniques in lab exercises and assignments. PREREQ: GEP 504 or GEP 505.
