THE234 Visual Elements of Theater - The theater experience is a collaborative effort of artistic vision and technical skills. This Visual Elements of Theater class introduces the students to the world of theater with the particular emphasis on the visual elements component. The functions, creative process, tools and materials of the set, the costumes, the lights and the makeup designers are covered through lectures, screenings, tours and practical labs. This labor intensive and fast paced course meets Mondays-Thursdays from 10AM to 3Pm ( with an hour for lunch). This summer we read and designed the visual world of the radio play Johnny Got his Gun against two different historical backgrounds. The summer session will end with a stage production where our students collaborate as makeup artists/costume wardrobe and as back stage crew.
