When does the program start?
The MATH-UP Program starts in Spring 2012, Spring 2013 and Spring 2014
Is there a stipend available?
Yes, there is a stipend available for all participating students. Students will receive a stipend during the months of clinical residency, September to June.
Where will I be doing my clinical residency?
Each student in the program is assigned to one of the host schools. For more information on the host schools, please refer to the TQP MATH-UP Partners.
Is tuition provided?
The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant may be available to students who have a GPA of 3.25 and above. The TEACH Grant provides funds to student who are completing or plan to complete coursework that is required to begin a career in teaching and who agree to teach full time for at least four years. For more information on the TEACH Grant and how to apply, visit the website. However, TEACH Grant might only cover a fraction of the tuition cost. The availability of the TEACH Grant may change in 2014. There are other loans and grants that might be available for assisting students in covering the cost of tuition. When will I take the teacher certification exams?
Cohort 3 students will take the CST exam in Fall 2013 and then the new LAST and ATS-W in Spring 2014; Cohort 4 will take three new exams when they are ready (probably their spring semester).
What are the new teacher certification requirements?
The new teacher certification requirements will take effect for students graduating after April 2014. For more information about the new requirements and how these changes will affect you, please visit the School of Education Teacher Certification webpage.
