From the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Economics and Business!
With over 1,400 undergraduate majors, this department is one of the largest at Lehman College. It encompasses studies in Economics, Accounting and Business, offering five undergraduate degrees in Economics (B.A. in Economics, B.A. in Economics and Mathematics), Accounting (B.S. in Accounting, B.A. in Accounting) and Business Administration (Bachelor in Business Administration). In addition, Master of Science degrees in Accounting and in Business are offered with concentration options in finance and human resources management. Our courses prepare students for careers as economists, accountants, entrepreneurs, managers and administrators of private, public, and not-for-profit organizations. Our four bachelor's degrees ranks number one as the most affordable bachelor's degree according to AffordableSchools.net, an independent college search and rankings site that centers on unique and affordable offerings within higher education.
For matriculating students, full time departmental academic advisors are available to guide them for successful completion of their degree programs. Students are also encouraged to visit the Career Services Center at Lehman College for internship and career opportunities.
Most of our faculty have applied work experience in their fields of study, regularly publish their research in peer-reviewed journals, and present their findings at professional conferences. This presents many opportunities for students to participate in scholarly research with the faculty. As the department continues to grow and expand, this Fall 2016, we welcome three new Assistant Professors to our department - Dr. Lisa Rosh (Human Resource and Management), Dr. Chanil Boo (Marketing) and Dr. Alexander Nunez-Torres (Finance and Economics). Their bios are posted under our Department News along with our semi-annual Departmental of Economics and Business Newsletter.
