Digital Skills Instructors
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) has as part of its mission to create educational and training opportunities, entrepreneurship and business development that will enhance the economic security of the Bronx and its neighboring communities. The SCPS programs offer businesses and their employees, within the five boroughs, training opportunities for personal and professional advancement.
The SCPS is seeking part-time digital skills instructors to teach remote work platforms (Zoom, MS Office 365 and/or Google Workspace) to small business owners and employees. All courses are taught live-online. Instructor must be expert in working with adults with low digital literacy, have a passion for education and be able to develop interactive activities and exercises that help participants apply technology in their workplace and gain confidence with the new software. Course development will be done in collaboration with the project coordinator.

Responsibilities
- Provide digital skills instruction online to small business owners and employees
- Collaborate with coordinator in curriculum revisions based on student evaluations and outcomes
- Develop training activities and exercises using authentic material for students to apply new skills and assess their acquisition
- Teach students content according to course descriptions, syllabi and learning outcomes.
- Provide effective instruction to facilitate the highest level of student learning
- Certify students’ attendance in class and submit to assigned personnel
- Communicate with and provide feedback to students in a timely manner
- Submit final grades according to deadlines
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with/knowledge of one or more of the subject areas to be offered including Microsoft 365 Office (desktop and online apps), Teams, Zoom and Google Apps (Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Forms)
- Experienced in online instruction via Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Teams or Blackboard
- At least 3 years of experience as a technology trainer (formal or informal)
- Bilingual faculty, who can teach courses in additional languages (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.) Preferred but not required
- Experience in adult instruction and/or in supporting the use of technology by adults
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
Availability
Must have some daytime availability, evening and weekend work also available. Flexible Schedule 2-3 hour sessions; trainings to launch January 2021
Salary Hourly, $40- $45 per hour

Online Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructors
Lehman College’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is widely recognized for providing students with the tools necessary to position themselves competitively in the workforce. The programs at the SCPS helps individuals from the Bronx and neighboring communities to further their personal advancement and career development.
The SCPS is seeking online CNA instructors to teach students to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA). Applicants must be a NYS Registered Nurse, experienced in online teaching strategies, and knowledgeable about the Prometric Certified Nursing Assistant State Certification exam. Familiarity with Zoom for class discussions and online learning platforms such as Moodle or Google Classroom will be an advantage.

- Develop virtual lesson plans, in collaboration with the nurse supervisor for CNA class, prior to the start of the program
- Use of an online forum for class discussions, i.e., Zoom or Google Classroom
- Teach students content according to course descriptions, syllabus and learning outcomes.
- Teach students the theoretical knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and the practical skills needed to pass the Prometric State Certification Examination
- Develop and upload course content, i.e., PowerPoint presentations in online classroom
- Develop and administer virtual quizzes/tests to the students
- Teach and demonstrate practical clinical skills using YouTube videos via Zoom and in-person clinical skills labs
- Collaborate with online tutor/technical assistant to provide students with additional support
- Use a variety of effective instructional strategies and engaging activities to facilitate the highest level of student learning
- Certify students’ attendance in class and submit to assigned personnel
- Communicate with and provide feedback to students in a timely manner
- Observe, manage, and report students’ academic progress
- Maintain records of grades and assignments
- Submit end-of-program final grades
- Attend weekly paid 1-hour program report meeting
Qualifications

Security+ Instructor
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies is seeking an instructor to teach a non-credit CompTIA Security+ class. (See course description and schedule below.) The class will be taught online synchronously using Zoom and, optionally, Google Classroom. The class follows the objectives established by CompTIA and is designed to prepare students for the certification exam. The student population includes individuals just entering the job market or pursuing a career change.
Responsibilities
- Develop a syllabus with clearly-defined learning objectives and explicit assessment criteria
- Develop instructional materials (lectures, demonstrations, assignments, activities etc.) that map to the CompTIA Security+ exam objectives and that are appropriate for an online class
- Track attendance
- Provide ongoing feedback to students on their progress and assign grades based on performance on assessment criteria
Course Description/Schedule
24 sessions, 72 hours, Tue/Thu, 6:30-9:30 pm, Feb 9-May 6
CompTIA Security+ Specialist is an entry-level security certification preparation course that validates knowledge of basic security concepts, communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, and operational security using hands-on learning in PC labs and lectures. It also helps prepare you for the CompTIA certification examination (see https://www. comptia.org/certifications/security). Prerequisite: CompTIA A+ class and networking background preferred.
Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ and A+ certifications
- At least two years of work experience in information technology, preferably in networking and/or security areas
- Experience in online instruction using Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Teams or Blackboard
- Experience as a technology trainer preferably with adults

Aquatics
Water Safety Instructors (WSIs)
Part-time, year-round evening, weekend and summer camp teacher shifts available for classes for adults and children in the Lehman College Olympic-size pool.
WSIs provide swimming skills and water safety instruction; enforce water safety rules and regulations; perform rescues and administer first aid as needed; take attendance and report student progress in our database in a timely manner; interact with parents/guardians; inspect pool area before class for maintenance, cleanliness or damages and report issue to pool management; maintain proper storage of pool equipment; and report incidents/accidents. Additional duty for summer camp: assess swimming ability of each camper prior to participation in aquatic activities.
Qualifications
Required: Current WSI certification; current yearly ARC First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certifications. Preferred: High school diploma/GED/TASC; 2 or more years’ experience as swimming instructor

Cisco Academy Instructors
Lehman College Continuing Education is seeking part-time Cisco Academy Instructors to deliver high-quality training. Our curriculum is approved by the Cisco Networking Academy. Applicants must possess a strong knowledge of the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Associate (CCENT) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programs and course material with recent certifications. The courses will prepare participants to gain the skills needed to be successful and prepare students to pass the CCNET and CCNA exams.
Duties

Lehman Academy for Children and Teens
Part-time Teachers
The Lehman Academy for Children and Teens offers Saturday (spring and fall) and weekday (summer) classes in academic subjects, test prep, computers, creative arts, and recreation. Teachers are needed for the following subjects: ELA and math (grades 1-8); SAT, NYC specialized high schools test prep (verbal, writing and math); computer coding; science; acting; art, dance; basketball; and swimming (WSI).
Qualifications
For academic subjects: master’s degree and NY teacher certification preferred; teaching experience with children and/or teens required.
