Patricio C. Lerzundi is a professor of journalism at Lehman College. He earned his doctorate at the CUNY Graduate Center. To date he has published eleven books, including annotated critical editions of the Spanish Golden Age Algunas hazañas de las muchas de Don García Hurtado de Mendoza, by nine authors led by Luis de Belmonte Bermúdez (2008) and El gobernador prudente, by Gaspar de Avila (2009).
Prior to joining Lehman, Dr. Lerzundi was a feature editor at United Press International and editor-in-chief of a daily Spanish-language newspaper in New York. He is the author of the first style and reference manual for Latino journalists in the U.S.
At Lehman, Lerzundi created the Multilingual Journalism program and has served as chair of the Department of Languages and Literatures, and as chair of the Department of Journalism, Communication, and Theatre. He also is the co-host of the CUNY-TV series Nueva York, which won an Emmy Award in 2008.
