B.A. IN THEATRE PROGRAM
Graduates will demonstrate the ability to work as versatile, self-directed performing artists in theatre.
1. Students will demonstrate critical thinking about theatrical text and production from historical, global, and diverse perspectives.
2. Students will demonstrate the ability to create theatrical work for public presentation.
1.1 Students will analyze in writing and in a visual presentation the development of drama and theatre in human societies and cultures.
1.2 Students will analyze in writing play scripts from different periods, genres and styles for theatrical production.
2.1 Students will write original plays for performance.
2.2 Students will create and believably portray characters using a variety of acting techniques and styles involving the use of the body, voice and imagination.
2.3 Students will perform essential tasks in technical theatre in the areas of scenery, properties, costumes, lighting and sound on a theatrical production.
3. Students will demonstrate the ability to produce and present theatrical work in a public context
3.1 Students will analyze and evaluate various models of performing arts management
3.2 Students will perform essential tasks in producing, including marketing, box office and house management on a theatrical production
3.3 Students will create a business plan or internship for a performing arts company, an actor's career plan, or other performance event.
