Lehman College and TDF: A New Partnership
Last fall, Lehman joined three other CUNY colleges (Baruch, Brooklyn, and LaGuardia) to pilot a new partnership with the Theatre Development Fund (TDF). The project includes discounted TDF memberships for students, faculty, and staff; internship opportunities for Theatre majors at Lehman; “New Audiences for New York,” which provides Lehman freshmen with workshops and access to performances; a “drama dialogue” on the production process that was held at Lehman in Spring 2011; and a new class, “Working in Theatre,” taught by Lehman’s William Hoffman in Spring 2011, which enabled students from the four participating colleges to learn from working professionals and from each other online and in the classroom.
This year, four more CUNY colleges are joining the TDF team: Hunter, John Jay, Queensborough, and New York City Tech. In Spring 2012, Prof. Laura Tesman of Brooklyn College will be teaching the "Working in Theatre" class, which will focus on women in the theatre. A new internship pilot will also be underway by Spring 2012, with at least one spot for a Lehman student and more in the works for the next summer and fall. Interested students should email Prof. David Sullivan in the Lehman Theatre Department (email@example.com) about these two opportunities.
Finally, Lehman will be repeating its "New Audiences for New York" classthis spring: interested students should email Joseph McElligott, who will be running the class: firstname.lastname@example.org.
